Yamaha R15 : Engine seize and burn pics!!!`

OMG : We cant believe this.
Yesterday there was news of a Yamaha R15 getting seized up (Click) and today there is this pic on xbhp about a bike catching fire!

We are waiting for updates for what actually happened. Stay tuned for more

UPDATE : It seems the rider of the bike had kept a cleaning cloth somewhere near the engine of the bike. Come on - that is not the place to keep the cloth. Something or the other happened. It seems while filling fuel, it seeped out, flowed next to the fairing and got into the cloth. On the run, the engine heated up and the fuelled cloth caught fire. But I would also want a Yamaha official to testify the same here.

Hi Vijay,
Well, I saw the same pic at the below link as well,
http://digg.com/autos/Yamaha_R15_Fire_Accident.

Was your bike in motion or had you parked it, after a long ride ???

Cause, I think, I might know a reason why it happened.

Hi
I spoke to the Yamaha guys. It seems the rider had kept a cloth near the engine which caught fire.
Yamaha isnt to be blamed here.

hey vijaya...yeah man right!!
after installing all the state of art top notch techs in the bike the people in yamaha must have been so tired that they have actually messed up somethin'..so the bike burns itself....maybe it has a self-destruction AI somewhere when it senses some WEIRDOS on its back....you must be the one that the bajaj and hero honda hires for their sick marketing strategies.....

Absolutely agree,
This guy says he's the owner and everybody accepts blindly,

Hey Vijay no matter how hard you try these tactics wont work.
YAMAHA is back to rule

Warm regards

Rofl, u all believed this ?
The pic is an r15's, it was burnt by some political workers during some riot in karnataka. The news was there on TV 2 years back, i still remember.

Today i am writing this post only because of some bystander who shouted out to us.
We were near Doordarshan tower at worli when all of a sudden my friends bike which was next to mine caught fire, we were at speed of 30-40Km/hr, my friends jumped from the bike and let it go. It was just a matter of 25 minutes for the fire brigade to arrive but within those 25 minutes the entire bike burned up. Leaving behind only the chassis, petrol tank and the burned up engine. Luckily we all survived, had it not not been for that person some of us would be alive today

what a load of crap.I have 2 r15 one fully modified which hits 145 (I rade for a group in blore) We are 18 people and all ov us have an r15 never came accross this problem man neither on road or the track.infact i have seen thye pulsar 225's clutch plate seize on the track if over revved for a constant time. but this liquid cooled baby just flies .guys iof you are looking for the best bike in indian market now R15 is the answer. A 150 Cc liquid cooled engine can beat the sh%t out of a 225 cc bike need more proof...??

Hi, an r15 mysteriously catching fire, yamaha spend millions on r&d and automobiles are pretty much at their best now. So its definitely the users fault. Things just dont catch fire, since they are designed not to. R15 is the best bike in india, so don have a doubt if you plan on buying one.

All the guys who say R15 is a cool Bike I dont disagree with you, but after the ordeal we came to know that oil filter cap leaked through the engine which caused the entire bike to burn within minutes. Now it wasnt te users fault nor the companies fault, but it was something that could not have been seen.

hi vijay. i feel that you messsed up bro. its like stuffing cloth in your girlfriends mouth. duh she's react. the engineering of the bike beats the engineering of your brain. please don't tell other people not to buy the bike because of your screw up. i agree with jai. cheers.

im from mumbai and i just got an r15 special ed, it caught fire 2 days back. right side of the engine. the entire fairing lit up while i was riding on the highway. very strange. bike’s at the service center at the moment, there was no cloth or paper over there. had just got it serviced and washed a day back.

its kinda scary when ur new machine lights up….wondering if i should still hold on to it!!!

I bought a yamaha r15 in mid 2009 and I does not have any problem with this bike since then and i feel great that this bike is not outdated till now. It is true that r15 is full of technology but the quality of spares is not good and very often this bike needs to visit service station. This must be a faulty spare part of bike. I think company should use geniune spare parts.
